Иельского ун-та (США, 1933-45), директор Шекспировского ин-та в Стратфорде-он-Эйвон (1951-62), где ежегодно проходили во время фестиваля шекспировские научные конференции. С 1948 редактирует ежегодное изд. "Шекспировское обозрение" (Shakespeare Survey).
